John Skelton founded the Skelton Group of companies in London,
England in the year1883. He was an iron and steel merchant.
He became a founding
member of the British Standards Institute. He also became the Chairman
of both the Committee Of Management, London Iron and Steel Exchange and
of the Steel and Tinplate Section, London Chamber of Commerce. He published
Skelton's Economics Of Iron & Steel. Later, his son, R.A.
Skelton published the Steel Construction Handbook,
Incorporating BS,
ASTM and DIN specifications, it became the reference work
for Engineers for 50 years until the complexities of constructional materials
became too diverse for one publication.
The company has
continued to operate as an Import / Export steel merchant out of England
since it was formed in 1883.
Our aim is to maintain
a permanent presence in the market place, provide continuity of supply
and a personal service to all our customers.
We enjoy the full
support of our suppliers, both technically and commercially. They too
want to service the market through Skeltons in a professional manner.
